How does your business effectively relay information to staff? This is an important question to consider, as well as  how effectively it is retained by your staff members. While sending a company-wide email or even printing out a flyer and thumbtacking it to a bulletin board can be done, it’s important to consider if your staff are really paying attention and taking in the information.

Many companies are throwing out the cork boards and instead are opting for digital signage–an innovative and tech-savvy way to display and post company announcements, events, changes to benefits or 401k plans, or simply streamlining daily operations. Throwing out your old bulletin board has never been easier, simply because digital signage provides more engaging and eye-catching content that can be presented on a bright screen that is perfect to add in high-traffic areas, such as the break room.

Wanting to upgrade your bulletin board? Consider digital signage that you can make bulletin board-esque with these popular display examples perfect to catch your employees’ attention!

  1. HR Reminders

Mimic important reminders and forms that should be submitted to HR with bulletin board-like digital signage!

When it comes to digital signage, content is often created by the HR department–who is almost always typically in charge of sending out company announcements, news, and other essential information via email or on a bulletin board. Digital signage is a game changer for the HR department because it not only allows full creativity when coming up with flashy content for staff to see, but it can be a great way to send out important reminders too.

No matter if it’s a simple reminder to take your scheduled break while you’re at work, submit your benefits forms to sign up and receive company-issued healthcare, reinforce HR compliances, or even to RSVP for the upcoming Christmas party to reserve your seat for you and a guest–digital signage is a great way to keep employees up-to-date on HR announcements they may be missing.

This is also perfect for businesses who have a lot of deskless employees that don’t have an email, or don’t frequently check their email while on the clock due to other physical responsibilities. Digital signage plays an important role in keeping staff in the loop, and it can be a fun way for the HR department to get company news across in a fun and efficient way.

  1. Employee Recognition

Start up an employee recognition rewards program to help boost engagement and productivity in the workplace!

Digital signage can be a useful method to help boost employee engagement through recognition and appreciation spotlights.

There are many businesses that don’t take care of their staff resulting in low retention rates. This is typically found in industries such as healthcare, hospitality and retail where it can seem like businesses spend more time and money trying to hire and train new staff than work to take care of the team that they already have. Digital signage and the creation of employee spotlights can be a game changer.

Digital signage can be used for a number of useful reasons, especially in boosting staff morale. Many companies used digital signage and paired it with an employee recognition rewards program where either staff or employees can nominate each other to show appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication. A simple shoutout that consists of a job well done, work milestones such as an anniversary, or even birthdays are simple content formats that can be done to appreciate your staff more, plus boost engagement and productivity.

  1. Essential Widgets

The most important information—such as date and time—are some widgets to keep staff informed!

Coming up with unique digital signage content can be tough, so why not go back to the basics? If you’re looking for simple and easy content to create—and something that can be used on a daily rotation—then add in a slide with essential widgets. Now, what do we mean by widgets exactly? It could be a number of things, such as the daily weather forecast, date, time, a countdown to a specific holiday, or essential local or nationwide news to keep staff updated with.

Not only is this a simple piece of content to create with your digital signage screen, but it is a great way to keep staff informed on everyday information–plus it is interactive content with real-time, automated updates. This type of content creates dynamic displays that someone’s eyes are more easily drawn to in order to boost engagement. Whether this takes up the whole screen, or it is split and featured along the top, bottom, or side of the screen while displaying important company news of the day, widgets are an important feature to add into any form of digital signage content.

  1. Company Newsfeed

Keep staff up-to-date on essential company information, news, events, and policies!

Transforming your old bulletin board in a digital format with signage screens is a great way to get staff interacting with more company news, events, and keeping them updated on everyday operations. Instead of sending out a newsletter or updates through email or printing them out to display throughout the workplace, create a company newsfeed instead for a digital signage screen.

A company newsfeed can include a ton of essential information perfect for any staff who has a deskless position or can’t consistently check their emails throughout the day due to other responsibilities. Creating company newsfeed content can include anything from key performance indicators (KPIs), live feed from the business social media feed (such as from LinkedIn or Facebook), upcoming company events, updates on projects and specific jobs, new hire announcements, and daily updates about system crashes, or other issues employees can expect when coming in for their shift.

  1. Safety Dashboard

Keep staff safe with safety reminders and protocols to follow throughout the day!

Keeping staff and customers safe with proper safety protocols and compliances can be useful content to create for digital signage.

Many businesses survive on proper safety protocols and compliances for everyday business, handling heavy machinery, or the proper cleanliness techniques when handling food. These are just some of the examples of common safety protocols for many businesses to keep not only customers safe, but staff as well–which is why creating a safety dashboard to display on digital signage is extremely useful.

A safety dashboard can include a number of different things to not only keep staff compliant to the rules and regulations of daily operations, but also create some friendly competition too. Not only can you include real-time KPIs–but do it for safety–where you can add days without incidents and even training completion rates. It can also be a great spot to post urgent alerts, directions for emergency exits and maps, plus the importance of safety culture.

  1. New Hire Introductions

Get older staff acquainted with new hires to formally introduce themselves and have an idea of how they’ll fit right into the company!

There is nothing more daunting at times than starting a new position, getting to learn a whole new job with a company with different standards, plus meeting the people on your team. This can be felt from both new hires and even staff that have been with a company long-term, but a new hire introduction content piece on digital signage can help to informally get new and old staff acquainted for an easier transition on both parties.

If you’re looking for ways to reinvent your digital signage much like a bulletin board, consider upping your game with new hire introductions. Not only can new hire introductions be a great form of content to present on digital signage, but it can also be an efficient way for both the new staff member and the long-term ones to get to know each other before they are formally introduced.

Users can add a picture of the new team member, their name, credentials (university and degree they graduated with, certificates, etc.), different job titles they have had in the past, departments they have worked in, and even fun facts about them to break the ice and create talking points.

  1. New Training or Classes to Complete

Want to give your staff an opportunity to advance in their career? Post about new training courses or classes to sign up for!

One of the reasons why many staff members leave particular jobs that they are at is due to a lack of growth and feeling stuck. Many jobs don’t offer or give employees the opportunity to advance or reach the next level on their career ladder, which often encourages them to look and apply elsewhere.

If you want to help prevent a bad retention rate your company may be experiencing–plus know that there are employees that you want to keep and see grow–then consider creating a piece of content about offering training courses, classes, workshops, or mentorships that can help boost their standing in the company.

Offering ways for staff to reach the next rung in their career is a great idea, especially if it’s with a company that they enjoy working for.

  1. Positive Client Testimonials

A good review should never go unnoticed and a display about recent client testimonials makes for a great morale booster!

It is common for a company to go through their reviews on different types of sites to get familiar with what they are doing well with and what they need to improve to satisfy and bring in more customers. While we often hyperfocus on negative reviews, the positive ones shouldn’t go unnoticed either where creating a display of customer testimonials is a great idea to include for a digital signage board.

Boosting staff morale by creating content about positive testimonials and reviews that they have recently received can be a great way to get the day started. Creating a display for a digital signage board will help give the spotlight to employees if they are specifically mentioned in a positive review, and it’s a great method to keep the team in high spirits and continue to do a good job. Everyone loves to see customers who walk away happy with their services or product, so consider implementing a display on your digital signage board to showcase the incredible employees you have.
