Yes, there are different roles that can be assigned based on the needs of your organization.
Admin - Ability to create, edit and approve spotlights, and edit the playlist
Spotlight Designer - Ability to create spotlights and edit spotlights they have created
Content Navigator - Ability to change what is being shown on screen in real time with the content navigator
The content created by users can be displayed in any language supported by Canva or if it is created outside of Shift and uploaded as a spotlight (via PDF, JPEG, PNG, etc), however the Shift Manager's user interface is currently only available in English.
A media player is a small device that is plugged into a screen or monitor via HDMI cable. This is what stores and transmits the content scheduled in the Shift Manager and allows it to be displayed on-screen.
Customers, especially those with sophisticated IT setups, may need to open up certain ports, URLs, or whitelist the media player's MAC address in order for a device to show Shift content on the screen. You will likely need to confirm with your systems administrator and whitelist the proper URLs and ports.
The content on-screen is managed remotely by the Shift Manager (or Shift Platform CMS) by those who have login access. As long as the devices are turned on and connected to internet, they will receive content updates immediately.
The hierarchy your organization determines allows for permission sets by hierarchy level. Designated user roles also allow for different permission sets for those with access to the Shift Manager.
Shift Manager Updates: Shift is constantly making improvements, creating new features, and updating the platform. The Shift Manager will automatically update as these changes happen. Some features will need to be turned on by your Customer Success Manager. Stay tuned for email updates from your account manager to see if you would like to utilize any of these new features!
Media Player Updates: As long as the media players are turned on and connected to internet (either via WiFi or Ethernet), they should be receiving automatic updates.
For static images and videos, the file extensions supported are: PNG, JPEG, PDF, MP4, and MOV with resolution 1920x1080 pixels.
While we recommend using one device per screen, devices with multiple HDMI ports or utilizing HDMI splitters or other AV system will allow the same content to be displayed across multiple screens.
The media players can be used with any display screen or monitor that is compatible with HDMI connection.
If the media player goes offline or disconnects from the internet, the screen will continue to play cached content but will not receive updated content until it is re-connected to internet through Wifi or ethernet.
Yes, you will be able to manage screens based on your custom hierarchy or labels (called "Display Rules") that can be assigned to designated groups. User roles can also be assigned at each hierarchy level and can be limited based on role permissions.
